Handwriting Success
-------------------
Difficulty with handwriting can interfere with related writing
processes such as the planning and generating of ideas and can
ultimately hinder academic development. Consequently, ensuring
children master the art of comfortable handwriting is extremely
important.
Being able to present our thoughts on paper in a clear and
coherent manner is something that many of us take for granted.
However for some young children, putting pen to paper can be a
real struggle.
Poor handwriting can stem from an early age for a number of
reasons: confusion over left or right hand usage can result in
delayed development, difficulty coordinating finger and hand
movements can cause a lack of control, and uncomfortable writing
tools can hinder writing fluidity. A recent research study in
fact, found that 80 per cent of children across Great Britain,
France and Germany experience pain or discomfort when writing by
hand. It is difficulties such as these that can influence future
handwriting success, and with writing a crucial element to the
process of learning, academic achievement may too be affected.
The 'Write' tool
----------------
In order to ensure that children are successful writers, and
consequently successful learners, it is important to address the
writing tool itself. Often, people do not realise the effect that
the pen or pencil has on a child's writing, yet the wrong writing
tool can act as a barrier to writing success. Children need to
use a suitable pen with a grip that they feel at ease with, that
fits comfortably to the shape of the child's hand; the right pen
will lessen ing, making the task of writing more natural.
Simply put, it is best to fit the pen to the child, not to fit
the child to the pen, or to the task. If you take different pens
with different surfaces, diameters, weights and aspects you will
find the children start using the tools in a different, more
creative way that is natural to them.
Ergonomic writing tools, such as the EASYoriginal, designed
specifically for a child's hand that support correct finger and
hand movement when writing can be incredibly effective. It is
important to identify the natural writing hand at early age and
then to use a specific left or right-handed pen. As the hand
grows and writing skills develop the right pen should be used
accordingly. Pens differ in shape, size, weight, surface, grip
zone and friction. These may seem like small things but, with
handwriting linked to future academic success, the correct tools
and the best teaching methods can go a long way to ensuring their
handwriting does not hold them back; giving them the best
possible start in their school life.
The Science behind the pen
--------------------------
The EASYoriginal took years in the making, with a team of
scientists of neurology and fine motor skills, designers and
spets in ergonomics combining their thoughts and research
to create a truly unique pen that helps improve handwriting.
Their : to develop a pen that supported relaxed hand posture.
The designers then adapted the grip to incorporate special grip
moulds to prompt users to place their fingers in the correct
place. Two different models were created as there needed to be a
different version for left handers with the grip zones adapted to
the way a left hander holds a pen.
The slightly curled tail of the pen additionally supports the
correct grip of the fingers â as these are what should control
the pen and not the whole hand.
The result of these design features is easy and comfortable
handling that also guarantees for neat and tidy writing without
blotting. All of these features are important for those learning
to write.
What makes the EASYoriginal so special?
---------------------------------------
The STABILO EASYoriginal rollerball is a contemporary alternative
to the classic fountain pen
This ergonomic rollerball pen is suitable for school children -
up to the age of 18. A moulded grip and a slightly arched shape
allow them to hold the pen in a correct manner without any
strain. Writing with the EASYoriginal is therefore very relaxed
and prevents muscles from tiring early on, so that all school
children can really enjoy learning to write without any s,
whether they are left or right handed.
Better than a Fountain Pen
--------------------------
A stylish and comfortable, quality rollerball, the EASYoriginal
glides easily over paper, but also incorporates the best
characteristics of a fountain pen such as "refillability",
"erasability" and sophistication. Its sturdy nib means that it
will not break or bend under pressure, nor will it get scratchy
or blot. What's more, each refill comes with a brand new nib,
meaning the pen always stays fresh and there is no mess during a
change over.
Left handers
------------
Handwriting can be difficult for left-handers because they have
to push their pen across the paper, often developing a poor grip
and awkward style, which can result in smudged work and aching
hands. It is important that left handers have the right kind of
pen to help them when writing. The following features are
essential in a pen for left handers to help them write
comfortably, quickly and legibly:
* Feels comfortable to hold
* Moves across the paper smoothly
* Has a grip set back from the nib to allow the correct hold
* Requires little pressure to hold and write
* Contains quick drying ink
The EASYoriginal has all of these qualities making it a perfect
choice for left handers of all ages.
Testimonials
------------
"After 18 months of tears, tantrums and avoidance tactics, I am
so thankful I tried your 'EASY ergonomics' pen with my 5 year old
son, after simply showing him, with the help of the stickers, how
to hold the EASY pen and spending 5 minutes a day with him,
practicing letter forms over half term, my sons writing improved
so much that we were both amazed at the results. It was like a
light turning on, not just for his handwriting skills, but for
all subjects at school. Thank you⦠It really was EASY!!" â
Sarah Ellison, mum
"I think they're amazing, they write very smoothly and are so
comfortable to hold even though I've been using the same pen for
over an hour now my hand isn't hurting like it usually did" â
Emily Saxon, student
"We started using your products in September and his hand writing
has improved greatly. For the majority of the time he now holds
his pen 'properly'. Infact at a recent parents evening his
handwriting was the area noted for most improvement and his
assessments have reflected this. Thank you once again." â Julia
