Survivors: The Gathering Darkness #2: Dead of Night

My daughter is 10 and absolutely LOVES this series! When the book arrived (she had already finished the previous one), she ran upstairs and read until dinner time. The seller I bought from shipped sooner than the estimated date, so she was even happier because she didn't expect it so quickly.

It’s a great book and I was just swept into the story. Storm is starting to realize that there are consicuences to all her actions. Wether it was good or bad. She goes through so much in this book.(Spoiler)She is actually sad that whisper died and she regrets treating him badly.

This review is for the entire series not just the book. When I read seekers I didn't really like it. When I read Warriors I could never finish it. I'm more of a dog person. When I read Survivors I loved all of it. The epic battles, the dogs, and the mystery of Alpha. I only wish that at the end WARNING SPOILERS lucky could have battled Blade with Storm. I loved this series.

My 11 year old son absolutly loves this series. He says anyone who loves adventure and mystery reading would like this book. This series kept my son off electronics on vacation, with no complaints, and he is normally not much of a reader.

This should have been a five star book, but there is one huge problem that made me deduct a star.😖😔😭. Starting with book six, the characters have changed dramatically! Sweet and Lucky are now bloodthirsty and ruthless, Bruno and Snap (who I used to like) have suddenly started hating Storm, and the rest of the pack (who used to have tons of diverse opinions) apparently have lost the ability to think for themselves. It seems as if Erin Hunter thinks she can change their personalities at any time to better fit the story. And that just isn't right.

My 4th grade granddaughter loves this series. Good for dog lovers though there was a couple instances of wild dog pack violence in a couple of them. She has the whole series and I cannot recall for sure which books had that.

I have given all these books five stars because they all deserve this rating. Every story is as good as the last and book 2 of the gathering is just as good.
